The Season of Pentecost
The Great Awakening
Independence Sunday

Prelude
Brian Turner
Awake, Oh Sleeper
UMH 551
Words: F. Bland Tucker Music: Max Miller
TUNE: MARSH CHAPEL

Awake, O sleeper, rise from death,
and Christ shall give you light;
so learn his love, it's length and breadth,
it's fullness, depth, and height.

Special Music
Andrea Bailey and Brian Turner
Holy Spirit
Bryan and Katie Torwalt
arranged by Joel Mott

There's nothing worth more
That will ever come close; nothing can compare you're our living hope
Your presence, Lord.

I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves;
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone,
Your Presence, Lord.

Holy Spirit you are welcome here,
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your Glory God is what our hearts long for,
To be overcome by your presence, Lord.

(Repeat from beginning)

Let us become more aware of your presence,
Let us experience the Glory of Your Goodness. (3x)

Holy Spirit you are welcome here,
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your Glory God is what our hearts long for,
To be overcome by your presence, Lord. (3x)

Prayer
 A Prayer of Saint Patrick
Christ be with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us, Christ in us, Christ beneath us, Christ above us, Christ on our right, Christ on or left, Christ where we lie, Christ where we sit, Christ where we arise, Christ in every heart of every one who thinks of us, Christ in every eye that sees us, Christ in every ear that hears us. Salvation is of the Lord, Salvation is of Christ, may your salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.  Amen

Scripture
2 Chronicles 7:11-16 New International Version (NIV)
The Lord Appears to Solomon

11 When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said:
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
A Great Awakening

Solomon knew the spiritual history of the nation of Israel. After the dedication the Temple prayed a prayer for God’s guidance and mercy when a crisis would come about. The answer Solomon received in II Chronicles7:14 was “ If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.  What does a spiritual awakening look like? What are the conditions God has set forth in His Word for that to happen? Do you long to see spiritual awakening in our nation, our churches, our communities, and in our lives?

God Of This City
Aaron Boyd, Richard Bleakley, Peter Comfort, Peter Kernaghan, Andrew McCann, and Ian Jordan

You're the God of this city,
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation,
You are.

You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless,
You are.

There is no one like our God (2x)
Greater things have yet to come,
And greater things are still to be done in this city. (2x)
(1st time repeat from beginning)

2nd time
Greater things have yet to come.

And greater things are still to be done in this city.
Greater things have yet to come.

And greater things are still to be done here.

There is no one like our God (2x)

Greater things have yet to come.
And greater things are still to be done in this city. (3x)

Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here.

Big Family Of God
(Becky Drake)
Some of us are big and tall
Some of us are very small
Some of us like pink and some like blue
Some of us like reading books
Some of us like feeding ducks
That's because we're different, me and you

But God loves everyone he's made
God loves each of us, in a special way...

Chorus
That's you and you and you and you

And you and you and you and you
God loves you! God loves you!
That's you and you and you and you
And you and you and you and you
We're part of the big family of God!

Some of us have curly hair
Some of us have specs to wear
All of us have different families
Some of us are very loud
Some of us don't make a sound
That's because we're different you and me

But God loves everyone he's made
God loves each of us, in a special way

[Chorus]
We're part of the big family of God! (3x)

But God loves everyone he's made
God loves each of us, in a special way
[Chorus]
We're part of the big family of God! (3x)

How Great Our Joy

Go into the world to Serve your Lord with Peace and Mercy. May His love for others burn so brightly in your heart that others feel its warmth!
