Prelude

Spirit of the Living God UMH 393
Daniel Iverson  Tune: LIVING GOD

Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.

Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.

Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.
Special Music

Head to The Heart
Reagan, Human, and Ketterer

I open up to You
This love that makes me new
Oh, may my heart receive
This love that carries me

From the head to the heart
You take me on a journey
Of letting go
And getting lost in You
From the head to the heart
You take me on a journey
Of letting go
And getting lost in You

My heart is open wide

I will receive your light
You give me faith like a child
In you, my heart runs wild

'Cause there's no shame
In looking like a fool
When I give You what I can't keep
To take a hold of You
There's no shame
In looking like a fool
When I give You what I can't keep
To take a hold of You

More than words, more than good ideas
I found Your love in the open fields
More than words, more than good ideas
I found Your love in the open fields
More than words, more than good ideas
I found Your love in the open fields
More than words, more than good ideas
I found Your love in the open fields
Prayer
An Invitation to the Holy Spirit

O God, the Holy Spirit, come to us, and among us; come as wind, and cleanse us; come as fire,
and burn; come as the dew, and refresh; convict, convert, and consecrate many hearts and lives
to our great good and to thy greater good and thy greater glory; and this we ask for Jesus
Christ’s sake.
Amen

Scripture
Acts 2:1-14 NIV
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.

God Come Near
by Ann Catherine Lee*

To say we’re innocent we’re guilty
To say we are not flawed would be lie
To say we’re worthy, God revealing,
Show us where we’re weak where you provide.

God, you know our souls,
For your son’s has saved our own.

 Chorus
Make us rich or poor,
Make us less you more
God come near,
God come near,
We’re longing for you.
Make us humble
Make us meek,
For that’s to seek you
That’s our need.
God come near, God come near,
We’re longing for you.
We’re longing for you.

To be slow to speak, and slow to anger,
 God, this we desire,
So change our hearts,
We know we’re broken, but you’re pursuing,
Remind us of the love that broke the dark.

God, you know our souls,
For your sons have saved our own

Amazing Grace UMH 378
John Newton

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind but now I see

Was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares
We have already come
T'was Grace that brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home

Go, in Peace, to Love and Serve the Lord; and May His love burn brightly in your heart!
