They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love

Words and Music: Peter Scholtes

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord. And we pray that our unity will one day be restored;

Refrain:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand. And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land;

Refrain

We will work with each other, we will work side by side. We will work with each other, we will work side by side. And we'll guard human dignity and save human pride;

Refrain

All praise to the Father, from whom all things come, and all praise to Christ Jesus, God's only Son, and all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one;
Prayer

O God, our Guide and Guardian, you have led us apart from the busy world into the quiet of your house. Grant us grace to worship you in Spirit and in truth, to the comfort of our souls and the upbuilding of every good purpose and holy desire. Enable us to do more perfectly the work to which you have called us, that we may fear the coming of the night, when we shall resign into your hands the tasks which you have committed to us. So, may we worship you not only with our lips at this hour, but in word and deed all the days of our lives; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen
Scripture
Jeremiah 29:1-14 NIV
A Letter to the Exiles

29 This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2 (This was after King Jehoiachin and the queen mother, the court officials and the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the skilled workers and the artisans had gone into exile from Jerusalem.) 3 He entrusted the letter to Elasah son of Shaphan and to Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. It said:

4 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” 8 Yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have. 9 They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them,” declares the Lord.

10 This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
God’s Plan For You

The Prophet Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He felt firsthand Gods love for His people, and the people’s rejection of that love. In the worst of times Jeremiah wrote a letter to the Israelites that had already been exiled 800 miles away to Babylon. That letter contained the great promise “ For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future .” Jeremiah 29:11  That promise of scripture is still true for you today. God has a plan for your life that give you a hopeful future even in the midst of uncertainty. That’s good news!

Ain't No Grave
Molly Skaggs

Shame is a prison as cruel as a grave.
Shame is a robber and he's come to take my name. Oh, love is my redeemer, lifting me up from the ground. And love is the power when my freedom song is found.

Chorus:
There ain't no grave
Gonna hold my body down
There ain't no grave
Gonna hold my body down
When I hear that trumpet sound
I'm gonna rise up outta the ground
There ain't no grave
Gonna hold my body down

Oh, fear is a liar with a smooth and velvet tongue. Fear is a tyrant, he's always telling me to run. Oh, love is a resurrection and love is a trumpet sound. Love is my weapon, I'm gonna take my giants down

Chorus

Oh, there was a battle, a war between death and life. And there on a tree, the lamb of God was crucified. And he went on down to hell, he took back every key. And he rose up as a lion and he set all captives free

Chorus

Because He Lives
Words and Music by Gloria and William Gaither
TUNE:RESURRECTION

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

Life is short.
And we have little time
to Gladden the Hearts
of those who Travel with us.
So Love
quickly, and
make haste to be
Kind.
May the Christ who loves us,
also travel with us,
and give us PEACE.
