Let Justice Flow Like Streams
Words: Jane Parker Huber Music: Robert Jackson
TRENTHAM

1 Let justice flow like streams
of sparkling water, pure,
enabling growth, refreshing life,
abundant, cleansing, sure.

2 Let righteousness roll on
as others' cares we heed,
an ever-flowing stream of faith
translated into deed.

3 So may God's plumb-line, straight,
define our measure true,
and justice, right, and peace pervade
this world our whole life through.

A Prayer of Saint Patrick

Christ be with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us, Christ in us, Christ beneath us, Christ above us, Christ on our right, Christ on our left, Christ where we lie, Christ where we sit, Christ where we arise, Christ in every eye that sees us, Christ in every ear that hears us, Salvation is of the Lord, Salvation is of the Christ, May your salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.
Scripture
Amos 5:18-24 NIV
The Day of the Lord

18 Woe to you who long
for the day of the Lord!
Why do you long for the day of the Lord?
That day will be darkness, not light.
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion
    only to meet a bear,
as though he entered his house
and rested his hand on the wall
only to have a snake bite him.
20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light--
pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?
21 “I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
your assemblies are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
    I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 But let justice roll on like a river,
    righteousness like a never-failing stream!
A River of Righteousness

The Prophet Amos was a shepherd in Tekoa, the southern kingdom of Judah when God called him to declare His message. It was a time when the wealthy people of Israel were enjoying peace and prosperity. They were quite complacent and were oppressing the poor, even selling them into slavery. The river of righteousness that Amos spoke of is a river of compassion and a river of justice towards the poor. What changes could you make this week in your life to help alleviate the suffering of someone in poverty?

One Voice
By: Ruth Moody

This is the sound of one voice,
One spirit, one voice,
The sound of one who makes a choice.
This is the sound of one voice.

This is the sound of voices two,
The sound of me singing with you.
Helping each other to make it through
This is the sound of voices two,

This is the sound of voices three,
Singing together in harmony,
Surrendering to the mystery
This is the sound of voices three

This is the sound of all of us
Singing with love and the will to trust.
Leave the rest behind, it will turn to dust
This is the sound of all of us.

This is the sound of one voice
One people, one voice.
A song for every one of us,
This is the sound of one voice.

O Day Of God, Draw Nigh
We bless you,
God of Seed and Harvest
And we bless each other
That the beauty of this world
And the love that created it
Might be expressed though our lives
And be a blessing to others
Now and always
